Invitation to 5th Annual Latino College and STEM Fair at GT, Saturday, 3/18

Here is one more announcement for today: A volunteer opportunity in collaboration with the Office of Hispanic Initiatives. The information below was provided from Jorge Breton, the Office’s Director.

I want to invite you and American Society for Engineering Education to participate in the upcoming 5th Annual Latino College and STEM Fair on Saturday, March 18th at the GT Student Center. The event is organized by Georgia Tech’s GoSTEM Program ( in partnership with the University of Georgia’s Language-rich Inquiry Science with English Language Learners (LISELL-B) Project ( We expect over 1,100 attendees, mostly K-12 Latino students and parents, as well as representatives from over 15 other colleges and universities and several organizations that serve the local Latino community. At the end of this email is a summary of this exciting event. We need volunteers as follows and ability to speak Spanish is NOT required:

  1. To conduct one or more STEM Hands-on Activities from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.(Setup time is 8:15 to 8:45 a.m.). If necessary, you can get reimbursed by GoSTEM for the cost of any materials you purchase for your activity(ies). To sign up, please complete the information requested at by February 24th.
  1. To man a table during the College Majors Fair of the event from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., where you can display posters, models, flyers, etc., to educate attendees about your major. Setup time is 8:15 to 8:45 a.m.To sign up, please complete the information requested at by February 24th.
